The Raceway at
Powercom Park and The Powercom Speedzone held their 2004 Racing
Season Awards Banquet at The Golf Club at Camelot in Lomira on
Saturday night November 13. The top ten in the regular weekly
divisions were recognized for their accomplishments of the past
season. The sponsors, fans, drivers, car owners, employees and all
others who supported the two tracks during the season were thanked
for helping to make the season a success. Plans are already being
made for the season ahead.
The Suburban Motors
Harley-Davidson/Buell Modified Division at The Raceway at Powercom
Park and the Budweiser/ Tri-County Distributors Modified Division at
The Powercom Speedzone saw Jay Schraufnagel of Beaver Dam capture
both track championships. It is the second year in a row that the
same driver won the titles at both facilities in the same year. Tim
Lemirande of Verona accomplished the feat in 2003. With record car
counts in the division to contend with, Schraufnagel put up
impressive numbers on his way to the championships. At The Raceway
at Powercom Park, Schraufnagel drove to eight A-Main wins, recorded
thirteen top five A-Main finishes and won ten preliminary events. At
The Powercom Speedzone, he registered six A-Main wins, twelve top
five A-Main finishes and seven preliminary wins. Among
Schraufnagel’s A-Main wins was the Prestige Custom Cabinetry Tony
Stewart Night at the Races on June 22 at The Raceway at Powercom
Park. On that evening, Schraufnagel bested a record field of
eighty-seven modifieds that included NASCAR stars Tony Stewart and
Kasey Kahne. Schraufnagel also picked up the A-Main win in the
Prestige Custom Cabinetry Modified Special at The Powercom Speedzone
on August 10.
Finishing in second
through fifth in the standings at The Raceway at Powercom Park were
Steve Mueller of Mukwonago, Larry Zirbel of Iron Ridge, Chris
Piquette of Random Lake and Lee Sohns of East Troy. Second through
fifth at The Powercom Speedzone were Benjamin Brinkman of Oshkosh,
Travis Spaulding of Greenville, Lee Sohns and Larry Zirbel.
The Dodge Central
Credit Union Stocks Division championship at The Raceway at Powercom
Park was captured by Trevor Schmidt of Hartford. Schmidt drove to
three A-Main wins, had eleven top five A-Main finishes and won one
preliminary win on his way to the title. 2003 track champion, Nate
Schepp of Beaver Dam finished second in points followed by Mike
Murray of Beaver Dam, Dannon Tessmer of Hartford and Dan Troyan of
Menomonie Falls.
Jerry Kope of Oshkosh
won his second consecutive track championship in the American Auto
Sales Stocks Division at The Powercom Speedzone. Kope raced to two
A-Main wins, eleven top five A-Main finishes and eight preliminary
wins. Finishing in second through fifth in points were Trevor
Schmidt, Tim Reichenberger of Oshkosh, Ken Feavel of Oshkosh and
Gary Neau of Omro.
The Gibbsville Cheese
INEX Legends Division competed on a regular basis at The Raceway at
Powercom Park and at a few selected events at The Powercom Speedzone.
The Series Point Championship was won by Eric Barth of Sauk City.
Barth was a dominant force as he recorded twelve A-Main wins,
eighteen top five A-Main finishes and fourteen preliminary wins.
Greg Hartlaub of Sheboygan Falls finished second in the standings
followed by Adam Reed of Slinger, Kevin Brill of Oostburg and Darwin
Banes of Beaver Dam.
Tim Doehling of
Winneconne powered his way to five A-Main wins, twelve top five
A-Main finishes and three preliminary wins in claiming the
championship in the Northwoods Paper Converting Grand Nationals
Division at The Raceway at Powercom Park. 2003 champion Troy Weich
of Fond du Lac drove to second in points ahead of Roger Lee of Wind
Lake, Steve Seitz of Beaver Dam and Josh Borden of Port Washington.
Bob Cullen of Chilton
took top honors in the Miller Lite Racing/General Beer Grand
National Division at The Powercom Speedzone. Cullen scored two
A-Main wins, eight top five A-Main finishes and three preliminary
wins in capturing the championship. Terry Van Roy of Appleton
finished second in points. Brett Wenzel of Two Rivers followed in
third in the final tally. Bernie Schommer of Chilton took fourth in
points. Fifth place for the season went to Jeff Diedrick of Combined
Locks.
Mike Mueller of Waupun
had a banner season as he pocketed track championships in the
Wally’s Auto Dirt Devils Division at The Raceway at Powercom Park
and also in the Sign Makers/Corporate Impressions Dirt Devils
Division at The Powercom Speedzone. At the Raceway at Powercom Park,
Mueller recorded three A-Main wins, fourteen top five A-Main
finishes and eight preliminary wins. At The Powercom Speedzone,
Mueller drove to nine top five A-Main finishes and had two
preliminary wins.
Finishing second
through fifth in points at the Raceway at Powercom Park were Jon
Schultz of Belleville, Jasper Drengler of Shawano, Dustin Schwandt
of Ripon and Cody Bobholz of Beaver Dam. Second through fifth at The
Powercom Speedzone were Ron Koenig of Fox Lake, Patrick Klawitter of
Berlin, Dustin Schwandt and Dave Wilkins of Oshkosh.
